Mr. Huge is proactive. He likes to lock his radar on "doomsday machines" before they emerge. To cast his surveillance net across the technological pond. To track every ripple on the surface of change. To stalk the future. Some find Mr. Huge's compulsive behavior loops a trifle obsessive. These medical men fail to understand what is at stake. Eternal vigilance is the thin tenuous line that keeps the world safe for democracy. That keeps the heathen horde from overrunning the temples of commerce. That keeps our precious bodily fluids pure. One can never collect, sift, and parse enough information. One can never gaze deeply enough into the eyes of what will be. One can never sleep.
